i once had a pup that liked to chew on me and i found that if i held her nose/muzzle firmly in my hand and made her look at me while i gave her a very firm NO, it didnt take very long at all for her to stop this behaviour.

Yes, the licking thing is just an attention thing in my case, i will be just watching tv or not paying attention to her then she starts to lick me.
Another thing how do you stop them chasing cats?

Hey Barnie welcome to the group . I am the human slave for a 13 year old GSD (Shelby) a 3 year old GSD (Zeke) and a 12 year old lab (Jaggy), I also have a cockatoo (Charlie) three lorikeets (Sam,MAcca and Bo ) a tank of tropical fish. Denise has helped me stop the licky-thing within days! Sprayed the back of my hands and my trousers/feet with bitter insect repellant!! Yik. Suddenly after 12 months of licking, she doesn't seem so keen to ... funny that. Combined with the ARRRCCHH for "don't do that" it's working well. We're newbies to the GSDRSQ clan too.
