Hello everyone!

My name is Viktoria (yep, that's a girl's name) and my EOI has just been selected from the pool as a part of Skilled Migrant program. There are still a lot of problems ahead of me (like proving to immigratinon officer that my five-years 8 level engineer qualification isn't worse than 4-years 7-level bachelor one as if it's not obvious) but I am sure eventually I'll get to New Zealand. Because I've fallen in love with this country and the feeling just isn't going away. :-)

It would be great to talk with some kiwis before I get there. I'm not sure anyone reads these introduction posts, but well, a girl could dream.

So, I'm an IT professional and a nerd with a little sci-fi fixation. Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly, BSG, X-men (though there's not much of a science there), Dollhouse, etc... I am also an anime fan though I wasn't active in that role for few years now. Oh, and I adore police tv-shows a lot. You can probably see it in my English speech patterns. And I dream to see Michael Hurst on stage since I was 13. And for those who know what it means, I am a complete INTP. And I am going to shut up now.

So are there any geeks or nerds or I don't know... anyone who wants to chat about how it's hard to watch something like Grimm after watching something like Criminal Minds?

Wow, it's really dead... ok. I'll use it like a brief diary then. Maybe someone will at least come to kick me off or smth. =)

So, I got an ITA and started the process of assessing my qualification in NZQA. Hope they will confirm that my knowledge is enough for level 7 - and do it in time, or I'll have to resend my EOI and pay again. Any way, it's one step closer to New Zealand.

Also, I'd like to share a joke from a Russian festival of Criminal Minds fiction. It's a part of a Criminal Minds/TBBT crossover. I translated it, of course.

So, Hotch asks Morgan: how are we doing?
Morgan: Not very well.
Hotch: How so?
Morgan: Well, that dude, Sheldon Kuper, was all like: 'Your IQs are so low I'm not even going to talk with you, I've got better things to do with my two PhDs'.
Hotch: Oh. And what did you do?
Morgan: Well, I introduced him to Reid.

Good luck with getting a response! From what I can get of this is that it's not used alot anymore, so I've been doing what you say you'll try, it's kinda like a mini-facebook..I just keep posting and hope someone will eventually kick me off or befriend me! Hey, worth a try....maybe if enough of us keep after it we can revive some interest! I notice quite a few people looking, so I say keep up the good work!

Well, I already got response from you, so it's wasn't all for nothing. Thanks, by the way, and good luck to you too! :-)

I can see your introducing post, but where are other 14 posts? Did you already decide on the time you'll visit New Zealand? From what I've read there are a lot of great places to visit. For example, there are places where "The Lord of the Ring" was filmed.

I was going to point you towards 'General Discussions' Viktoria, but I see you found it! I thought that would be a good a place as any to post, I was also looking around and I may start posting in the 'photos' area as well!
Our plans are a year or two out but the goal is to apply for a 1-2 year work visa and see how we like it! My daughter is the only one a little skeptical about the move right now, but I think she's willing to give it a try as well! There will be a few obstacles to overcome, but we feel it will be worth the effort to try, from all I've discovered so far about the beauty of the land to the culture, looks like it will be a fantastic venture!
