To All our friends furry and otherwise at GSD rescue,
Our Kaiser became ill on Friday and after a Vet visit it was decided to admit her at AVG , Denise was incredibly supportive and as usual right there when needed , Ki Ki appeared to have from the Xray some form of cancer and her blood cells did not appear to e re generating, we elected to have her see the specialists and have tests to find out what kind of cancer and also see if chemo was an option. Last night her platelets dropped and we were advised to go with a transfusion, the vets rang and said the transfusion was almost done and Kaiser was much more animated and had in fact tried to get up and walk around, ten minutes later they rang to say she had Cardiac arrested and could not be resuscitated.
Sonia and I are devastated - we did not expect this to happen so quickly, we had earlier told Ki KI how much we loved her and Denise had fortunately taken a picture of the three of us together.
We took poor Kahn in after we got ourselves together to see his big sister , playmate and toy and bikkie stealer for the last time, he saw her wagged his tail furiously , then sniffed her and looked confused for a minute then began to whine a little and talk (as he does), he is quiet today and so so clingy and incredibly sad.
Kaiser was my second GSD rescue six years ago as a companion for the Late Great Zoro, who was tragically killed a week after we got Kaiser, Ki Ki (as we called her)had six wonderful with us and we would like to share some of her explots and quirks with you.
1/ When I met Sonia Kaiser ingratiated herself by shoulder charging her everytime she walked by, knocking her when drinking tea, stealing shoes and hiding them or chewing them up, and encouraging Kahn to misbehave...
2/Decided she was invunerable and would take on any Dog any where for any reason, she'd snarl at anyone of different ethnicity ( she was from Stokes Valley) , sneak bark at old ladies or children- she would watch under our gate until the old ladies who deliver pamplets got up to the letter box then do her best to induce heart attacks or faints.
3/Attempted to eat several children through our ranch sliders...
4/ Bought a cat-Lilly , Kaiser and Kahn treed her within hours of arrival...On her last night at home I slept on the floor next to her so i could help her up to drink and toilet, Kahn slept next to me and Lilly took a wathcful potition on the chair closest Kaiser , Flynn the kitten came and slept between me and Kaiser , my own cat ( Sonia's disowned her for weeing)sat nearby. So the whole family was with Kaiser , before we went back to the Vets.
Kaiser was a treasured member of our family and will be missed very much by us all , especially me , as when i though i'd lost both her and Zoro she came home to me , and never left.
She was loyal and loving and a great character to the last , just three days ago i watched her take one by one Kahns Tux biscuits out of his bowl as he snoozed and hide some in her playhouse under the mat with thier toys (she had ALL of them too!!!) , bury the others no doubt with Kahns bone which dissapeared earlier... I opened the door and said 'What are you doing Ki ki, she just gave me her trademark "innocent" look and carried right on doing what she was doing!
Run free at Rainbow Bridge with Zack and Zoro Our Girl... Thanks for being in our lives and enriching them..
