Hi, Im new here but wanted to see if anyone had any information to give out about employee contracts here in NZ. I currently work for a company who I have signed a contract for as a full time employee to work a min. of 13 hrs per week. they now want to lower everyone's work hours to a max. of 8 hours per week, however still state that there may not be enough work for EVERYONE so therefore I may not have work at all during the week should they see to it that they do not need me. Is this common and is it fair should should someone else who is equally qualified and has been hired under the same rights as me get more work hours than me? TIA

I would suggest you speak with a lawyer who is up on employment law who can give you the low down - there are a number of community lawyers around that won't either charge you for their advice or they will charge a heavily reduced fee. Have you also thought about trying the Citizens Advice Bureau?
