Hi Guys , Here is a strange story for you . I have sites in the central north island and travel to them daily usually taking my GSD with me . The GSD passed a month ago and so i have been circulating without her since . When i was at my Putaruru site monday i was told by my employee that his brother had found a 1 > 2 yr old male gsd wondering in the country near his house ,he had called it in as it knew commands sit etc and had contacted dog control to come collect the dog the same day .He had no collar or tags and the area is a local dumping spot for unwanted pets . I shot to the pound to see if he was still there as it was the seventh day and i wanted to make sure that he didnt pass to the bridge any sooner than need be . When i got to the pound the officer there tells me that they have no such dog now but he has been away for a week . I wanted to check my info so i went away and talked to my staff member again and after confirming the correct details and being a stubborn bugger i go back to the pound the next day and ask to see the day book and dogs in the pound. Guess what ? no dog and no paper work of any kind and no call outs for the day in question . Strange . So do i give up HELL NO today i get the Manager of the dog officers on the phone and explain the details and demand to know where the dog is and why there is no paper trail of any kind relating to this dog .I asked her if the owners could have collected him but she told me there would be fees to pay and paperwork to fill out. She is looking into the matter and will get back to me tomorrow i will keep you posted . Cheers mike

Good for you Mike. You sound like my type of person. There should be a paper trail. Do keep us updated.

I don't suppose the young fellow who handed him in can remember anything about the ACO who collected the dog? What time he collected him, male or female officer, what type of vehicle etc. Most official staff have to wear ID of some sort now so perhaps the ACO had an ID tag on. I hope you find him Mike.

I rang the manager today and asked why she hadnt called me back , she says that the number that i left does not work ( ok) I asked what had happened to the dog and where is it . Her response was that she had talked to her Aco staff and that no dog was collected from that address . Now i am getting mad . The employee that handed the dog in is 65 yrs old and his brother is 63 they are not what i would call unreliable people and the events including the signing of the release document so the Aco could take the dog ring true to me . There is no doubt in my mind that the Gsd was collected by an Aco from thier house in an Aco ute with Fluro writing on the side ,my employee signed a release and thats where the dog was last seen . I have rung the manager back and insisted on a meeting with my employee his brother , myself and any Aco that is available at 10 am Friday morning . This should prove very interesting . Mike

There are two GSD's in the Hamilton pound that I heard about today. Would he have been taken there. I was unable to call them today to verify it myself but the source is reliable.

This is really sounding very fishy, keep up the questions Mike, how many other dogs are they doing this to & how many distraught owners are getting told their dog isn't in the pound
