AoTuroaLED announced on Queen's Day that it has reduced its pricing for its New Zealand-made LED retrofit systems that replace fluorescent lighting. In response to announcements that GST will increase 2.5% and Energy Trading Scheme could raise prices as high as 3.3% the company reduced pricing 20% from $250 NZD to $199 NZD.

The new pricing for its LED retrofit kits make the proposition for businesses to convert their lighting much more attractive as the return on investment could be as short as 9-12 months and can have long term operating cost reductions due to lower power, increased product lifetime and subsequent lower operating and maintenance costs.

"In light of the rush by Mercury Energy and Contact Energy to raise prices as much as 3.3 percent and with the recent announcement of increase in GST, we are showing the country we can help battle these increases," commented Stephanie Prather, Director of AoTuroaLED. "We are providing a means whereby companies can use the upcoming changes as a catalyst to make a change to their bottom line before it is too late."

AoTuroaLED has seen rapid adoption of its LED retrofit systems in the USA in the States of California and Alaska where energy
prices are comparable to New Zealand. Customers have been pleasantly surprised how they can reduce power consumption by more than 50%, increase light output by as much as 20%, eliminate the disposal of hazardous mercury in fluorescent, and reduce maintenance costs as the product is guaranteed for 50,000 hours vs only 8,000 hours for fluorescent lighting.

Additionally, the AoTuroaLED systems are Flicker and Hum free, a common complaint about fluorescent systems.

These LED kits retrofit 600mm x 1200mm fluorescent light fittings and only consume 48 watts versus T8 fluorescent fixtures that consume over 100 watts. The Kiwi LED made kits also easily retrofit fluorescent used in car park applications.
The New Zealand ETS aims to push people toward more greenhouse-efficient methods of electricity and transport by making it more expensive to emit greenhouse gases. AoTuroaLED is showing how New Zealanders can curb these energy price increases. AoTuroaLED has shown that in office, school, airport, and hospital applications where lights will be on 18-24 hours a day that the payback versus the initial investment will pay for itself in as little as 9-12 months making it a sound business proposition.

"In a typical New Zealand office environment, fluorescent lighting accounts for 25-35% of the entire power bill," commented Manuel Lynch, Director and Founder of AoTuroaLED. "Our systems will cut that to about 10-15% of a company's power bill - this will more than offset the cost increases as a result of ETS and GST increases. Furthermore it will reduce the burden on Mercury Energy, Contact Energy, Genesis Power, Trustpower, and Meridian to meet the carbon footprint goals. You can help your business and help the country. We think it is a great way for New Zealand to show the world how we can lead by example - with World Cup of Rugby coming in 2011 it will be a great example to the world how progressive we are."

AoTuroaLED systems are manufactured in Auckland and utilize the highest reliability patented white LED systems from Nichia of Japan, the world's leading supplier that has over 40% of the world market. AoTuroaLED does not use Chinese made products that often infringe Nichia LED patents and subject end customers to potential legal and quality liability issues.
