I'm looking for some advice with the above problem. We have had for 10days now our new addition of a 10month old male (un-neutered) GSD. He has started over the last few day eating his own poop, as soon as it has hit the ground, fresh! Apart from ewwwwwww, any suggestions would be great. Our last dog also did this (he had pancreatic enzyme disorder, but it was something he always did from when we got him at 16mnths old). Our new guy is on a mixture of proplan performance and advance chicken & rice, as per breeder suggestion, and fed 5cups over 3 meals a day. He is only 27.5kg and we are trying to put some weight back on. He is used to living in his own outside run, next to several other dogs, but had lots of time running and playing with his kennel mates. He was confined at night as he never liked to keep still and this didn't help his weight much. With us, he has the run of the house and garden and sleeps inside now, not crated. At a recent vet check all was fine, but he wasn't doing this then. We are in the habit of picking up soon after, as we have children running around and don't want any "squashes" tracked through the house. Thats the other thing puppy does, he does crouch, but moves around which means (like walking crouched) at times he walks through it too. Is this just a puppy thing or, finding my place, getting used to things thing? Aparently he didn't do this previously. (adding pineapple to the food never cured our last dog).
Comments welcome, Maria and Ice.
