If I would like to visit my home country for longer than 6mths will this effect my permanent residency? How long can I leave New Zealand without jeopardising this?

Hi, It all depends if you have your RRV and then you can return, how long have you been here? and you need to spend 6 months a year in NZ to get your RRV for two years.

Also keep in mind that if you're intending on applying for citizenship the time away will mean you'll have to wait an equal amount of time before applying.....or at least that was my understanding of it...my partner had to deduct the couple months she went home from her total time here.
