The sun is very hot here, at least comparable to Phoenix, my home town, where it is extremely hot. Sun block is essential, the stronger the better. (I use SPF 50). Darker-skinned people can probably get away with less, but that is an uninformed guess. Hats are a good idea, too. And sunglasses.
The ozone layer is thinner here which accounts for the difference, but there is also less pollution. Note that you get your vitamin D regardless of using sun block, and you need only about 20 minutes a day for the proper dose of D. Be careful in the sun, especially on the beaches, but enjoy it.
PS. If you live in Jordan you must be used to sun and heat.
