There are a variety of fishing licenses and costs in New Zealand, ranging from a whole season fishing adult license for $96.00 to a whole season family license for $125.00, to some free children licenses.

Adults are considered 18 years and over while a family license is 2 adults and up to 5 children (12 - 17 years).

The winter fishing season starts on 1st April and runs until the 30th September 2007, and licenses are available for the winter period.
