This year's early birds at Mount Hutt got something more appealing than worms - they each received a collectable t-shirt.
The first three people to hit the slopes at Mount Hutt this year were Sean Leste, Rippa Lister and Kalim Guthrie.
The trio wasted no time getting their ski fix.
They were at Mount Hutt from 6am yesterday, the first of 350 visitors on opening day.
Skifield spokes man Dave Wilson said despite few significant snowfalls in previous weeks, several runs were open, including beginner and intermediate slopes.
Snow-making machines had been busy topping up the base, he said.
The earlybird trio also got opening day giveaway t-shirts, which have become collectables for ski buffs.
This year's shirt said, 'I'd rather be working NOT - 1st on the quad 2007'.
