The Tasmanian coastal town of Swansea has won the title of Australia's Tidiest Town for 2007.
Swansea triumphed over 1000 entries in the competition.
The town boasts a substantial number of historic homes and buildings and was praised for its heritage restoration, colourful banners and well-kept residential gardens.
Recycling and resource recovery initiatives were also key to the win.
Don Chambers, chairman of Keep Australia Beautiful, which runs the competition, praised the competing towns' commitment to being green as well as tidy.
"It is particularly good to see that many towns are recognising the challenges posed by climate change and are working to address this issue," Mr Chambers said.
"Swansea has shown a wide diversity of interaction between communities, local government, businesses and citizens.
"Each and every one of our participants deserves thanks for their efforts to become a sustainable community."
