There are plenty of beaches for a brisk winter walk or a lazy afternoon sun bathing on a hot day, whatever time of the year, a visit to the beach is a lot of fun!

Some popular beaches include:

Northland Beaches
Pakiri beach which is about 90 minutes north of Auckland while Ripiro beach is only 15 minutes from Dargaville and is the longest driveable beach in New Zealand!

If you are keen to walk along some long sweeping stretches of sparkling white beach and crystal clear waters then you can't beat the stunning Karikari Peninsula in the far North.

Auckland
Takapuna beach is a fave hot-spot in the North Shore, while you can walk on black sand on the West Coast beaches of Muriwai, Phia and Karekare.

Bay of Plenty
A very popular New Years Eve destination and another hot holiday spot to 'hang out' is Mount Maunganui's main beach. This is also a great surfing spot.

Raglan
Surfing buffs will enjoy the waves at Manu Bay and Ocean Beach is a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch.

Nelson
Kaiteriteri Beach offers 'picture perfect' golden sands and aqua sea.
