Located on the East coast of New Zealand's North Island, Napier is renowned as the Art Deco capital. West Quay is located on the lower reaches of the Ahuriri Estuary (also referred to as the Inner Harbour) and this is where Sail-A-Way Apartments is located.
The estuary also provides a valuable habitat for New Zealand's flora and fauna.
Ahuriri was one of the earliest settled areas in Napier and the shallow, sheltered waters of the tidal esturary was a popular mooring site for sailing ships in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
With the development of a new port, the use of Port Ahuriri changed but continues to be used today by the Hawke's Bay Fishing Fleet and a range of recreational activities.
The past is being carefully preserved however exciting times are ahead for West Quay. Already vacant industrial sheds are now popular cafes, bars and recreational centres as the popularity of the area continues to grow.
