It's summer in New Zealand but you don't need to sacrafice your coffee enjoyment because of the heat.
Iced Coffee drinks are making a revival! But don't panic, they are no longer the watery drinks served in the tearooms of yesteryear, you remember the ones, with enough whipped cream to sink a ship and just a hint of coffee taste.
Coffee Ice Cubes
Avoid watered down coffee drinks by not using plain ice cubes! Instead you should freeze some coffee and water ahead of time in an ice cube tray. For a fancy touch you might want to add a couple of whole roasted coffee beans to each cube.
Brew Ahead!
You should brew your coffee ahead of time, to give it time to cool before preparing your iced coffees. Some recipes may call for hot coffee to begin with, however most drinks will be far frostier if you chill the coffee thoroughly first. Don't leave your coffee out for too long while still warm, instead pop it into the fridge once it's down to room temperature - both to cool it and to keep bacteria at bay.
Use a Cocktail Shaker
This is a particularly nice touch if you are serving up your coffee drinks while entertaining friends. Giving your iced coffee drinks a good shake-up will make them extra frothy!
