If you are travelling through the Kurow region then there is probably a high chance you have have, or are going to, visit Benmore Dam in Lake Benmore - New Zealand's largest earth-filled water-retaining structure.
The dam is a popular visitor stop-off in the region which isn't surprising when you think that the impressive dam has a volume of 12.5 million cubic metres which is about 1.5 times as much water as Wellington harbour!
Benmore Dam is free to view and is one of many great family activities available in the
Waitaki Valley & Kurow region.
