Hello, I wonder if anyone can tell me how easy / practical it is to park a (probably large) motorhome in places like Auckland and Wellington? We are planning our trip to NZ for next year but before I book I wanted to check that you can actually drive these things close enough to a city to be able to visit. Or is public transport better than the UK (hardly difficult !) and that is how to get further in?

Thanks.
Chely

Hi chelyw,
Personaly, I would rather drive a bus than a car around both of those two cities, but that is because i know them quite well. As far as parking goes, well a car is lot more versatile. Both cities have excellent (well in nz terms anyway) public transport which I believe would be your best option. Park where you can on the outskirts of the area of interest, then take public transport or even a taxi. It would be much easier on your nerves.

ps
I do not know what your capability is or familiarity is in driving larger vehicles.

I see a lot of people park their motorhomes across two carparks in supermarket carparks and in shopping malls so you shouldn't have too many problems and the roads are easy to navigate for larger vehicles (including trucks), however I would suggest you ask the experts (such as Tui Campers), you can get hold of them via this Contact Us page!
