secure certificates
What is a Secure Certificate? A Secure
Certificate states that a specific Web site is secure and
genuine. It ensures that no other Web site can assume the
identity of the original secure site.
If you have a Secure Certificate, then this confirms your
identity to users and indicates that it is safe to use your
services because checks have been done to verify that you are a
genuine trading company.
This is indicated by the user's web browser (a small key or lock
appears on the bottom of their screen) which tells them that a
secure connection was established and then shows the page. The
most important thing from an Internet merchant's perspective, is
that this gives your customer more confidence, and convinces them
that their order information will be transferred safely and
securely.
Should your Website be used to promote direct sales of your
products or services, or online reservations, you may wish to
display such a Certificate for the transmission of sensitive
information such as credit card details and customer information.
For our Website clients, New Zealand's Information Network
provides the use of our own Secure Certificate for just this
purpose. We can also supply you with your own dedicated Secure Certificate if necessary
and assist you with the process of application.
