As a winter destination visitors can take advantage of Hanmer Springs close proximity to the Hanmer Springs ski area and the Mt Lyford ski area. Both native and exotic mature forests with a network of walks and mountain bike tracks surround Hanmer Springs. The forest area is only minutes from the heart of the village. Walks range from short 30 minute strolls to half and full day walks. The Lewis Pass travels through the Lewis Pass National Park creating a pictorial travelling route for drivers passing through. The Lewis Pass is very popular with bush walkers and trampers. There are many walks and tramps, ranging from 10 minute walks to view a waterfall through to 5 day hiking tracks. |
