One of New Zealand's three largest airports. For the year to 31 March 2003 it handled 3.9 million passengers, of which 450,000 were international. For the same year there were 112,490 aircraft movements. Wellington Airport has also recently been the home to Middle Earth.
Linking into this main terminal are three passenger piers. international flights depart and arrive at the Northern Pier. Air New Zealand flights operate from the Southwest Pier and Link flights (to smaller areas like Nelson and Blenhiem) operate from the South Pier.
